Switzerland gives us the Bratwurst as a really popular street snack. Topped with sauerkraut, hot mustard and fried onions all served on a sourdough bun and it doesn't get better than that!
As an aside; Raclette on potatoes is another favourite but is predominantly a winter dish so I chose the mighty Bratwurst as the snack of choice
You could make your own sauerkraut and I really recommend that you do at some point in the future but for now, a jar of shop bought is fine
First of all, add the butter to a frying pan and over a medium heat, add the onions once the butter begins to bubble. Cook like this for 10 minutes until the onions have caramelised and browned
You can cook the Bratwurst a few different ways such as in the oven, under a hot grill or in the frying pan. I prefer the frying pan personally but cook them the way you prefer
When the Bratwurst is cooked, slice the sourdough buns, pop the Bratwurst in the middle, ladle on some sauerkraut, drizzle over the hot mustard and sprinkle on a handful of friend onions
